Excerpt: "It is only excess in this point that deserves blame and censure, and against which one should be on one's guard".

I think a possible translation is: "Somente os excessos nessa matéria são motivo de culpa e por isso merecem censura, e contra eles, cada um deve se preservar".

But I'd like to make sure that I'm going to make this translation as good as possible.
