Like any data measurement or modelling tool to be used for wind resource evaluation, the purpose and primary intent is to reduce the uncertainty in the estimate of the energy production for a given project configuration. Depending on the duration of the sensor measurement period the contribution of uncertainty reduction as a result of the sensor data will vary accordingly. And similar to some met data and wind flow modelling results, there are circumstances where when employing sensor data directly into the WRA the uncertainty may not reduce a noticeable amount, though the sensor data can often still help to qualify some assumptions or speculations of a given wind regime.
