Dex-ul da ambele versiuni: "presedintie" si "prezidentie". Intrebarea insa, era de fapt, "cum se traduce "bid". Cel putin asa am interpretat-o eu intrucat "presidential" nu cred ca poate pune probleme iar Dex-ul se pare, este mai "tolerant" decat suntem noi intre noi.

încercarea/oferta/tentativa/aspiraţia de candidatură la preşedinţie

Explanation:
Întrucât cineva nu este candidat la preşedinţie până nu este trecut pe baloturile de votare toţi cei intraţi în cursa de obţinere a acelui drept sunt "aspiranţi" la candidatura pentru preşedinţie.

Abia după ce sunt nominalizaţi de delegaţii propriilor partide (la "convenţie") un "aspirant" devine "candidat propriu-zis" la preşedinţie. Prin urmare, abia din acel moment încolo, orice retragere din "cursă" devine "retragerea candidaturii".
