MACHISM: The theories of Ernst Mach, esp. his concept of empirio-criticism adopted from Richard Avenarius.
Empirio-criticism was attacked by Russian Marxists around the time of the first Russian revolution (1905). Many uses of the Russian term maxizm, as well as the earliest examples of English Machism and its derivatives, are traceable to the protracted political discussion which arose in Russia as a result.
