FACADE
The facades of the market are built with local quarried stone blocks. This construction is environmentally responsive, keeping the space cool during the day and temperate in the evenings by releasing absorbed heat. To achieve a simple yet performant facade we are exploring different methods of coursing (stone laying) to control light transmission and airflow. The detailing is related to the sun and window diagrams and then superimposed with the functional layout of the market: 1) mesh coursing for filtered light and air flow, 2) mesh facade with insulated glass behind for daylit, climatized zones, 3) suspended mesh facade with integrated steel support structure also as a screen for filtered light, and 4) solid stone, thermally insulated facade.
