Check the condition of the threads on the front supporting bearing and the threaded ring that turns on
the outside of the support bearing. The threads should be cleaned and lubricated to allow free running
of the ring. If the ring cannot be adjusted to the thickness of the hole plate, the machine cannot be
reassembled properly.
Remove and replace the axial seal that seals between the hopper and the bearing arrangement. Seal
ring is replaced from outside the hopper. Remove the retaining ring and pull the sealing ring out. Check
and replace if necessary.
Once the axial seal removed, you can clean and inspect the retaining ring. If the retaining ring is
excessively worn, it can be reversed by pulling it off the gear shaft using the threaded holes in the
outside face, then turn it 180 degrees, so that the clean surface will then be in contact with the seal.
Replace the wear ring if the both surfaces are worn. Reassemble with food grease.
Before refitting the feed screw also check that the thrust block and retaining screw are secure and
grease the ***gear hex*** to assist with easy movement of the feed screw.
