Common mild symptoms of COVID-19 are fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. Trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion, are not able to wake or stay awake, and have bluish lips or face are all emergency warning signs for COVID-19. Patients with these symptoms are NOT appropriate for home-based care. 2. Not appropriate for home-based care. Send patient to nearest CIC or referral center with availability. 3. If the patient has co-morbidities including chronic heart disease, kidney failure, serious heart conditions, sickle cell disease, adult onset diabetes, or immunocompromising conditions (such as cancer, HIV, TB, or other autuimmune disease), they are NOT appropriate for home-based care. Patients with chronic illnesses such as asthma, hypertension or high blood pressure, pregnancy, smoking, liver disease, thalassemia, type 1 diabetes mellitus, may be appropriate for home-based care, but will require close monitoring. |
