Речь идет об эффекте психоакустической маскировки и его применении в методах компрессии звука. Подскажите, пожалуйста, что такое здесь "rite", и как можно перевести "symbol"? Правильно ли я понимаю, что эти артефакты могут появиться в конце определенной партии, при затухании звука, например, тарелок?

So there might be interference between different instruments or it could be interference between another single instrument at a given time. And as a result sometimes if you use very aggressive compression, say a very low bit rate you can get very strange artefacts, a good example is on the decay of a symbol say a high hat or a rite symbol. The interference of the harmonics interfering with itself and the codec is deciding on which harmonics are important and which aren’t.

Explanation:
Поддержу GaryG. Думаю, здесь имеют место опечатки.
Только ride так и переводится, как "райд" (видов тарелок много, и почти все они - подвесные).
