- Oh yeah! I can't begin to tell you how many places I felt I shouldn't even be playing. But more often than not I just wanted to play everything I've always played. So I think in the future there will be even less of my ***playing in spots***, and I may rearrange things to have spots where there is nothing else going on when I'm playing and let the orchestra parts speak better without the encumbrance of me soloing over it.

Explanation:
по-большому счету, в обоих случаях spot зд. означает "место". а смысл, как я вижу, такой:
"Поэтому думаю, что в следующий раз я буду меньше играть то тут, то там (на протяжении всей пьесы), а, возможно, переделаю пьесу, так чтобы иногда был только я и моя партия, а иногда играл только оркестр, а я не мешал ему выражать смысл музыки своими соло".

другими словами, он хочет меньше накладывать свою партию на партию оркестра, разделиться он хочет! :)

иначе я не знаю...
