The blood of God outpoured upon the tree!
So reads the Book. mind, receive the thought,
29 Acts xx. 28, " Feed the church of God which He hath purchased with His own blood." The reading "God" is, as F. J. A. Hort says, "assuredly genuine," and the emphasis upon the blood being His own is very strong. There is no justi- fication for correcting the text conjecturally, as Hort does, to avoid this. If the reading " Lord " were genuine, the meaning would be precisely the same: " Lord " is not a lower title than "God." in such connections. I Cor. ii. 8, "They would not have crucified the Lord of Glory," is an exact parallel.
Nor helpless murmur thou hast vainly sought
Thought-room within thee for such mystery.
Thou foolish mindling! Do'st thou hope to see
Undazed, untottering, all that God hath wrought?
Before His mighty "shall," thy little "ought"
Be shamed to silence and humility!

Explanation:
Устар. значение meet в качестве прил. (согл. OED) - suitable, fit, proper, appropriate, fitting, becoming; использется в основном в поэтическом контексте.
Смысл: я покажу тебе, что/как пристало относиться к Богу... (ранее речь идет о смирении чел. перед величием Б).
Поэтический вариант, конечно, здесь за самим переводчиком.
В интернете немало вариантов использования 'twere meet в поэт. текстах.

Вот еще англ-англ объяснение текста, где встречается это выражение:

"Though by 'beneficence,' the loss of all should come,
'Twere meet man sold himself, and bought it with the sum".

If it be said that loss will result from benevolence, such loss is worth being procured even by the sale of one's self.
