Collins: the practice of persistently working longer hours and taking fewer holidays than the terms of one's employment demand, esp as a result of fear of losing one's job.

Presenteeism
Presenteeism is the opposite of absenteeism. In contrast to absenteeism, when employees are absent from work illegitimately, presenteeism discusses the problems faced when employees come to work in spite of illness, which can have similar negative repercussions on business performance. It can also refer to the expectation of employers for their employees to be present at work regardless of whether any work is available or accomplished.

Presenteeism
The opposite of absenteeism, in which employees are so scared of losing their jobs through downsizing, delayering or just simple redundancy that they work excessive hours or remain at work in the evenings in order to be seen to be there even when there is nothing to do. The result is high levels of stress, unhappiness and poor performance (but employees can now sue!).

Explanation:
http://www.thorpebenefits.com/news/what_is_presenteeism.html

Presenteeism'a:
(1) putting in excessive work hours as a perverse expression of commitment or a way of coping with nagging job insecurity
(2) employees going to work depressed, stressed, injured or sick

-> Thank you, Raskas.
