Regardless of the retention efforts described above, participants may voluntarily withdraw from the study for any reason at any time. If a participant chooses to withdraw, data collected from this participant will be deleted and will not be used for analysis. In all other cases, participant information will be used for analysis. Because the main study outcome data are collected from HIV clinic records and without participant involvement, inability to complete a follow-up questionnaire or non-adherence to the exposure condition will not be a reason for participant withdrawal from the study. If participants become unable to experience any of the study outcomes (in the case of death, incarceration for more than 180 days, moving out of study region), their observation will be “censored”. ***** Accrual of person-time ***** will stop at the date of any such censoring event. The date of the censoring event will be verified by clinic physicians, or social workers.
