Outside of these examples, shortness of breath is likely a sign of a medical problem.

Dispneja, (lat. dyspnoe), glad za vazduhom, zaptiv, teškoća u disanju, je nedostatak vazduha praćen subjektivnim osećajem otežanog disanja, kao posledica nesklada između ventilacije i potreba za vazduhom. To je generički termin kojim se označavaju mnogi patofiziološki poremećaji koji mogu da rezultiraju različitim kvalitetima respiratornih tegoba, i služe da bliže opišu određenu dijagnozu.
