Depending on the meaning I think this can be the most accurate translation, someone in his/her teens, because "adolescente" is more referred to younger boys and girls, not to someone close to be eighteen (that is how I understand it).

De acuerdo con los estudios psicológicos efectuados en la última década, la adolescencia comienza alrededor de los 12 años (o cuando los jóvenes comienzan a desarrollarse) y dura... HASTA LOS 30!!!! Antes se consideraba que abarcaba a los "teens", pero ahora ya no... ¿será que al género humano le está costando cada vez más "madurar" (sea lo que esto fuere)?

Buena respuesta Serena!!! Claro la palabra es adolescente. Quinceñero la palabra lo dice claramente, es alguien de quince años. Como opción se podría usar la palabra más general que son jóvenes... o más acá.... los chavos.
