Como dijo Doña Andrea Luri, la palabra "caudal" se refiere más que nada a volúmenes grandes de agua. Personalmente nunca he visto que se use tal palabra en artículos, sino más bien usan "velocidad" o "tasa" de flujo (principalmente velocidad).
