The part of the sentence I am having problems with is the 'To file' We use the term cargo politico for political office. I am translating a outreach flyer for an elections office. This will be given out to native speakers who have an interest in our local elections process. Here is the original sentence for context:

Si es para presentarse para ser electo en una elección usaría presentarse, si es para un cargo /puesto, postularse. Me parece que postularse es a un puesto.
Sutil diferencia.
