Genesis 4:7
"If you do, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." The term 'desire' means "to long for and want badly". Keil and Delitzsch describe it as "a desire bordering on disease; a violent craving." In other words, sin is experienced as an irrational compulsion which is itself evidence of a more profound malaise.
