can't be "a picture of reality." It is a picture of Truth (who Jesus is, what He taught, said, and did, especially what He did for us through the cross, death, burial, and resurrection; the exact image of God, the only way to God and the only way to know Him [the way, the truth, and the life]). Christianity, in the true sense of the word, is a life reflecting this, in fellowship with Christ. However, reality doesn't always reflect this because of our own free will and choosing something else.

So the story of reality would include facts and truth. Facts might or might not include Christianity, depending on the situation. (Everything written in the Bible is fact; those things really happened. But not all of it is Truth or represents God's character, as seen in how people acted.) John McDove's and Monica's suggestions for the book title would fit your description of what the book is about.

Me temo que el original pretende hablar efectivamente de hechos, de una historia del mundo bajo el prisma cristiano. Una historia que no se describe como relato (como algo que podría ser) ni como camino o vía (lo que debería ser), pero tampoco es historia en el sentido de history, que es lo que podrían sugerir historia del mundo o historia de la realidad. Se trata de una descripción, a modo de descripción científica, de nuestra realidad, física y espiritual, sólo que bajo un paradigma distinto al científico.
La traducción es interesantemente compleja. Descripción o Explicación de la realidad parecen recoger fielmente el sentido del original. No obstante, la opción más literal parece la más ajustada después de todo.
Historia del mundo real o Historia de la realidad parecen aproximaciones literales ajustadas. En el contexto aportado, optaría por la versión historia del mundo real o bien por la más literal de Mónica;
