falta Explanation: I don't quite understand where the sentence you need translating ends, but if you need to play with the senses you mention (lack, defectiveness), you could maybe try "falta". If it's just "It's your fault", then "culpa"would be right. "Es tu culpa", or "la culpa es tuya"... depending on the register and context. |

Usually you would say: "Es tu culpa". You may try something like this if the context allows to do so: "Estás errado. ¿Errado? Acaso asumimos esta palabra como "falta" o "defecto" por "error". Just a thought on how to handle the word pun. You may intercheange the words we all have suggested until you get the desired result.
