I texten förekommer "fecal smear" och "fecal float". Jag måste skilja på begreppen - det är inte tillåtet att gena.

"Both techniques are qualitative fecal examinations (not quantitative). The faecal smear consists in "obtaining a direct smear made by breaking up a very small particle of feces in a drop of saline". Once you smear the fecal
sample on a slide you can then observe it at the microscope. Is a very simple technique but its efficiency is limited because only a small particle of feces can be examined, and if a small amount of parasites is present on the sample then maybe you could obtain a false negative. To avoid this, some
concentration techniques appeared ie: faecal flotation
