This phrase doesn't have any intrinsic deep meaning, it's just an ungracious or jocular throwaway phrase tagged on to the request for the person to sit down.
I think the assumption is that we all like to feel that things around us are neat and tidy, settled, and that nothing is irritating us, so it's a gentle, polite or sometimes impolite, even humorous way of saying "you're making me feel a bit irritated" (because there is something - in this case you - out of place if you're standing up). I gather that there is something like that in the Czech language but unlike English they say: Sit down, so as not to carry out the sleep from our house. The saying is very old, several centuries old, and is used mostly by older people nowadays.
Is there an expression in Turkish in a similar context which someone (often a woman) may say if people are milling around & she wants to serve up a meal or get cups of coffee or something similar?
An also common expression but with a slightly different meaning is :-
"You make a better door than you do a window". [=I cannot see through you, so move aside.]
Joe was just standing in front of the TV. "Hey," I said, "You make a better door than you do a window."
Charlie: Isn't this a great view? Jane: You make a better door than you do a window. Let me see."

Gölge yapma başka ihsan istemem."

It literally means "You want to do me a favour, just don't cast a shadow over me."
It may be used to simply mean "stop hovering (or keeping nearby) around me" , but it usually has a intrinsic deeper meaning, like doubting the addressed person could be any help apart from creating problems .
Atil's reply led me down many paths! Selma & Mehmet provided me with excellent usage in the family context, although both seemed to be used in their own respective families. Thank you, Selma, for your kind words about my mehrum annem. As usual, Zeki's was very helpful. I didn't quite understand Emin's but I guess it means something like "sit where you are! Besides, I've no time to waste on you!" Please correct me, Emin, if I'm wrong. A big thanks to you all!
