The Provence Birth to Three Developmental Profile was standardized on a population of 100 children and looks at overall development, compares a child’s skills to other children the same age, and assigns an approximate age equivalent to each area assessed. Areas assessed include gross motor (use of large muscles), fine motor (coordination of vision and hand use), cognitive relationship to inanimate objects (problem solving, learning, and thinking skills), communication (understanding and use of language), relationship to persons (interactions with others), emotions and feeling states (managing feelings and behaviors), and self-help (daily living skills such as feeding, dressing, and bathing) development.
