В українських джерелах є більш популярний термін "дистанційна робота". Частково це наслідок тиску російської мови, частково - нерозбірливість: "дистанційна робота комп'ютера" і "дистанційна робота перекладача" потребують різних термінів, і українська мова дає такі можливості, зокрема "дистанційна/віддалена праця перекладача". (Не можна сказати "праця комп'ютера" ні в якому контексті).

Крім того, така диференціація дозволяє розвести категорії "процес (дія)" і "наслідок"). Термін "праця" краще передає зміст оригіналу саме як процесу.
