I'm working on a text about an indigenous group in Brazilian Amazon, and the little text says that they "cultivate UCURUM in [their] traditional farms." What is UCURUM?

From the above I infer that ucurum is also known as urucum and that the Latin name is Bixa Orelana.

They discuss use.

I get the impression that it is commonly known as annatto:

Maybe this will help.

Hey!!
Good; my languages are Spanish, English, Korean and I also understand Portuguese. I grew up in Paraguay. (kinda funny, isn't it?) Having said that, I am familiar of people who wear red pigment on their faces for decorative purposes, but I had no idea that ucurum was the name for it. Thanks a bunch!

neutral  Hacene: I would agree, but some of your link do not work and there is a gap from ucurum to annatto seed, even if you are spot on. Try them again, you'll see
