In relation to car parts it means the same as "aftermarket" or "ERP" (exact replacement part): a part that closely resembles the original (OEM) part but is made by a different manufacturer. Generic parts are generally cheaper than OEM, though the quality can be inferior. It doesn't mean what "generic" tends to mean in general contexts: a generic fuel tank is not a fuel tank that fits a number of different vehicles. That wouldn't work, because car parts have to have precise shapes and dimensions.
