Veg Box Cover T/V R/L

English translation: T/V > (Korean English) Tray vegetable // (Standard English) Vegetable drawer / Freezer drawer

English term or phrase: Veg Box Cover T/V R/L
This is the description of a refrigerator.

Some context:

Refrigerator compartment:
...
Veg Box Cover T/V R/U - Tempered Glass Yes
Veg Box Cover T/V R/L - Plastic
...

Freezer compartment
...
Drawer Box Cover T/V F/U - Tempered Glass Yes
Drawer Box Cover T/V F/L - Plastic

( https://www.powerdirect.co.uk/index.php/lg-gsl760pzxv-americ... )

My guess is that
R = Refrigerator
F = Freezer
U = Upper
L = Lower

However, I have no idea of what "T/V" stands for, and I would like your opinion about R/L as well (maybe I'm wrong about it).

Thanks!

Selected answer:T/V > (Korean English) Tray vegetable // (Standard English) Vegetable drawer / Freezer drawer
Explanation:
I have spent quite a while looking at a range of LG material and have come to the conclusion that Taña's original finding was right and that T/V stands for "Tray Vegetable" after all. I'm concentrating on that here; I don't think the rest is really a problem. "R/U" and "R/L" must surely stand for "refrigerator, upper" and "refrigerator, lower" respectively. This model has two drawers in the refrigerator and two in the freezer, one above the other in each case.

I am convinced that the key to this is that LG is a Korean company. I mean no disrespect to Korea and Koreans; I simply mean that the English in the company's documentation is sometimes unconventional. There is no doubt at all that the part of a fridge we would call a vegetable drawer is called a "Tray Vegetable" in the English LG uses, with the words the wrong way round (and with "tray", which is not really the right word, instead of "drawer").

It is the company's own term and is used in a lot of their manuals. It probably arises, I imagine, from a translation from Korean made by a Korean. Not all the company's documentation uses it. In the manual I cited earlier for the actual model Matheus is dealing with, the term "vegetable drawer" is used for the fridge part and "drawer" for the freezer part:
http://www.lg.com/es/lgecs.downloadFile.ldwf?DOC_ID=20150124... (p. 8).

Clearly, I think, the company's subsidiaries have had some manuals tidied up by a native speaker. But there are plenty that do use "Tray Vegetable", such as the one Taña cited. Here's another:

http://www.fridge-manual.com/manuals/lg/LG_GR-B252_VM.pdf (p. 3)

And there are lots more.

The thing is that even when LG's manuals correct this, they still list the part as "Tray Vegetable", because that's what LG itself calls the part. So in this manual we have "Vegetable Drawer" in the illustration on p. 6, but "Cover TV (Tray Vegetable)" in the list of parts on p. 5:
http://service.minjja.lt/files/?id=2896

And those who supply the part, including British and American dealers, call it a Tray Vegetable because that's what it's called in the catalogue:

"LG GBB539PZCWS Tray Vegetable
Genuine spare part "
http://www.4lg.co.uk/fridge-freezer/gbb539pzcws-gw-b429slcla...

"LG Tray Vegetable MJS62633101
Manufactured by: LG"
https://www.midwestapplianceparts.com/index.php?main_page=pr...

By the way, LG are not alone here. Samsung, another Korean company, also calls it a Tray Vegetable:
https://www.abappliances.co.nz/files/3960_20160301154827-145...

This is why I referred to "Korean English" in my answer; I hope this won't cause offence.

Well now, it is quite clear that "Cover T/V" stands "Cover Tray Vegetable", meaning "Vegetable Drawer Cover". Here's another manual with a full list of parts keyed to illustrations. They include:

"151A TRAY, VEGETABLE [it's certainly better with a comma]
[...]
154A COVER, T/V
155B SUPPORTER ASSEMBLY, COVER T/V" (p. 48)
These can be seen in the exploded view on p. 43

I think that in the light of all this, Tony's perfectly reasonable objection that you don't have a vegetable drawer in a freezer is not an insuperable problem. The explanation, I suspect, is that this particular freezer has drawers with covers that are essentially the same as those in the refrigerator, and the company simply uses the same name for them, without really meaning that they are literally for vegetables. They call this kind of drawer a "tray vegetable", and do not find this inappropriate for a freezer in the way a native speaker of English would.

Explanation:
It's a bit of a stretch, but think it may refer to television, perhaps because this cover assembly made up of a piece of glass placed on a plastic frame supposedly resembles a TV screen.

Here is my supporting evidence:

This is the frame only. The glass is NOT included. Also known as the TV cover.

Hi. The part(s) of my fridge that holds the fruit and vegetable bins at the bottom of my fridge is broken and in need of replacement. I'm not sure what the part is called or if it is one of the parts (or several parts) not pictured. It is a large part that spans the width and depth of the bottom of the fridge in which the fruit and vegetable bins slide in and out of (some type of assembly perhaps?) It has a groove at the top for a large piece of glass. Could you please advise which part(s) I might need?
Hello Kirsten, The crisper cover for this unit is 3550JD1129A. They may also call it the t/v cover.

Here T/V could mean transparent/vitreous. We are talking about the cover of the veg box.

agree  Helena Chavarria: I think the 'T' is tempered and I can only think of 'Vitreous' for the 'V', though I can't find any references for the latter.

agree  Taña Dalglish: That's what I found too! BTW, did you see the discussion box. Matheus can go to any of the sites selling LG products or spares, and the representatives will respond very quickly. Unfortunately, this morning I did not have a lot of time.

  -> Thanks, Taña! Yes, I know. It would be worth checking to confirm, but I have no doubt now. I hadn't realised the company was Korean, and as I say, I think that's the key point.

agree  Tony M: Makes perfect sense! And after all, it's perfectly possible that the same drawers and covers are used in both sides, thus rationalizing parts stocks!

Have a look here (page 4). There are diagrams. “T/V” may relate to Tray Vegetable (Tray/Vegetable) but I am guessing.
