Corporate social responsibility Explanation: Without much contest it's hard to be sure, but I think the "I" in "CSIR" may be a misprint: "guilt money" sounds to me as though he may be talking about Corporate Social Responsibility, when companies get involved in good works (such as litter-picks or community gardens) in the community to make themselves look clean, green and good. It's guilt-money in the sense that they are still producing the same dirty goods or services they always did; their actions are supposed to be paying back for their business activities. "Guilt money", also known as a "guilt offering", goes back to Biblical times (see Leviticus). |
