English translation: laid down by regulations

16:17 Jul 4, 2016
English language (monolingual) [Non-PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Law (general)
English term or phrase: regulatory
I'm not sure about the meaning of the word ''regulatory'' in this context:

''XXX detection algorithms are based on regulatory material analysis techniques.''

And, does ''regulatory'' refer to ''material'' or to ''techniques''?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
