I think I've finally understood! Actually, I think I can try and translate literally, since "every sport in every season" is somewhat an hyperbole...for instance, it may be difficult to practice skiing all year around, but if he could, he would do that...

I agree with Jessica. There are sports (and teams/training sessions) for each season. This child is so sports mad he wants to participate in a variety of sports, thus ensuring he is engaged in some sport at all times of the year. A child's exaggeration to say "every"

I would take this sentence a little less literally. The traditional school sports seasons where I live in the U.S. are, starting in August: soccer or football, then basketball or ice hockey, and finally baseball or track. In all high schools in our state, if you play one sport, it is impossible to play another simultaneously, because there are either 2-hour after-school practices or scheduled matches, every week day and some weekends. So some kids will say, "I am a three-season athlete." This means that they play on a sports team every season. So my reading of your source is that the child wants to try out for, and play on, a sports team for each sports season. Because most sports teams are related directly to schools, it would be very unlikely for a youngster to play more than one sport a season. Of course it says that this child wants to play *every* sport in every season, but I still read it as him/her wanting to try out for, and play on, a different sports team during each of the seasons.
