current asthma/active asthma current=diagnosed in past/active=recent episode (within past year) Explanation: as Phil says, they are defined for you... current= have you ever been diagnosed with asthma (at any time in your life/ the past) ...you may not be suffering from it right now active=have you had an episode/attack/been to the doctor about this asthma within the past year =it's a recent occurence so "active" rather than dormant -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 hrs (2016-07-09 13:38:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Glad to have helped -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day54 mins (2016-07-10 09:45:04 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- you may also find this link useful the main thing about asthma is that there is NO CURE. So if someone is diagnosed with it, then it is a long-term underlying illness (current state=dormant) that can flare up at any time (active state when it flares). So symptoms can be dormant but can be triggered in various ways. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/asthma |
