English language (monolingual) [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Health Care / Pregnancy
English term or phrase: quickening
In a health care manual on pregancy this term appears which I understand to mean the feeling of the baby moving inside the pregnant woman.

My question is: Is this the correct / most common way of putting it or is there a better expression that should or could be used?

The term on its own just sounds strange to me and it's going to court so I really need to get the correct terminology.

Thanks,
Mark

first sensation of fetal movement
Explanation:
"Quickening" is used quite commonly both by lay people and health professionals, but obviously not everyone in a courtroom will understand it, so "first sensation of fetal movement" might be preferable.
