Tech/Engineering - Mining & Minerals / Gems / tanzanite
English term or phrase: post formation
Virtually all tanzanite found on the market has been subjected to some form of heating, albeit at a relatively low temperature, to complete what is recognized as a natural process which nature itself would have brought about in geological time.
The resulting color is both permanent and stable.
Tanzanite is often mined already blue-violet, attributed to a ****post formation (585 million years ago) natural heating event****.
The molecular structure and chemical composition of tanzanite mined blue-violet and tanzanite which has been heated, is identical.
From a gemmological point of view, heated blue-violet tanzanite has no distinction from unheated tanzanite; hence, tanzanite is not technically considered a ‘treated’ gemstone.

Would you please explain or rephrase "post formation" in the phrase "post formation natural heating event". Isn't the phrase "post formation natural heating event" somewhat grammatically incorrect? Might be an easy question for native English speakers. Thanks in advance!
