English term or phrase: tell tale toppiness
While the Sabian SBR cymbals are brass not bronze, they're many times more refined than the unbranded cymbals often found at this level. The 13" hats are particularly sweet-sounding.
Similarly the 18" crash/ride contains very little tell tale toppiness, executing its two disciplines with an air of polished ease.

predominance of high frequencies
Explanation:
I assume the reason the author says 'teel-tale toppiness' is because s/he is saying that these cymbals are made of a supposedly inferior material (brass), and this fact is often given away by the presence of over-dominant high-frequencies in the cymbal sound — I assume perhaps because brass is maybe less dense than bronze?

Sorry, 'tell-tale toppiness'!

I.e. even though these cymbals are made of brass, they do not suffer from this problem of over-dominant high frequencies.

Explanation:
Я так думаю.
Toppiness объясняется здесь, например: http://gaffa.org/dreaming/discogr3.html (distortion of the higher frequencies), ну а про разницу в звучании латунных и медных тарелок писано много.
