agree  Sheila Wilson: There have also been some compilations of "so dreadful they're funny" tracks. Dificult to know exactly what's meant by "comedy" without more context.

-> Yes, indeed - it could be unintentional comedy as well as intentional comedy by comedians and intentional comedy by non-comedians!

I don't include musical comedy in this since I believe that's different, though related. It would be good to have more context though to be sure

The Wurzels described here as a SCRUMPY & WESTERN BAND or FOLK genre and later it says "with a comic slant".

Claude-Andrew's example of Fred Wedlock is in the same genre of Folk/Scrumpy & Western.

neutral  Sheila Wilson: That's excluding a lot of musical and spoken-word recordings. The Wurzels for example were (are?) perfectly competent musicians. // I think they would
20 mins
-> I wouldn't call albums by The Wurzels or other musicians comedy albums/think they're more "folk" genre

agree  claude-andrew: Favourite example: Frd Wedlock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxZnWSNswgA)

neutral  Tony M: I tend to agree with Sheila: there are plenty of examples of 'comedy' records made by people other than just comedians.

-> I honestly don't agree with you. Think you're getting your genres mixed. I haven't found any examples of the referenced group specifically making "Comedy records/albums". Lots of examples in folk/scrumpy & western however

agree  William Murphy: 'comedy' is specific enough to exclude merely whimsical or silly recordings. It is (or at least was) a genre of recording and I used to have many such records by comedians (Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, et al.).

-> Thank you, that's exactly the way I see it!

agree  Kate Collyer: Much as I want to include comic songs in this description, it appears that you are right: http://comedyrecords.co.uk/
