chain Explanation: in this context, or possibly circuit. Chain in a figurative sense : "a series of things connected or following in succession" It means that items need to be put into a circuit/chain according to their characteristics, and will be dealt with (for example ticketed) according to which flow they are in. After each rack they must need to be put in new flow, hence the term 're-flowing'. These flows/circuits/chains can be tangible or virtual (eg computerised). |

movement of goods.... Explanation: Flow means movement, preferably without disruption. In this case it seems to be the movement of goods from storage to display. This movement could be done manually, semi-automated or automatic. In this case it seems to be semi-automatic. The "flow" of goods is set up, and being checked for unticked items or items which don't belong to the particular selection. This glossary may be useful, but the "flow-rack" they mention is a system, which may not apply to your text. Nevertheless, the idea is the same: the facilitation of seamless movement of stock. http://www.inventoryops.com/dictionary.htm "Flow" can apply to customers as well; the strategic placement of store fixtures can create a "flow" and lead the customers through the store, from one department to another. |
