Shipment from B to C, being handled by A? Explanation: We have little context here, but this is a possibility, if you're writing about a dealer who is buying, then arranging shipment direct to the customer without the dealer ever seeing the goods - IOW, shipments which "pass him by", rather than shipments which are delivered to his warehouse. |

shipment at a transit port, passing by, Explanation: In other words: shipment coming from one place on a ship calling at a port and then continuing to its destination. The ASN (Advance Shipment Notice) has to be sent to the customer by a certain time, in advance of the shipment arriving. That is usually prepared by the sender, but as it says here, if there isn't one, they have to prepare one at the transit port, which is then sent on. Fair enough, as they are in a better position to know of the actual arrival date than at the original starting point. |
