English term or phrase: caregiver
Hi,
I'm looking for a word to substitute caregiver for the people who look after the animals in zoos/wildlife parks.

I like zoo-keeper, but then some "parks" don't like to be associated with zoos and find the word has negative connotations.

Are there any other terms I could use?
Thanks
Mark

p.s. Unless you think caregiver is ok. To me it sounds a bit like the people who look after the elderly or infirm.

(animal) caretaker

Explanation:
A caretaker is generally someone who is responsible for (and takes care of) another person, whether children or the elderly. In the case of animals, the job title is usually 'animal caretaker', although titles like 'animal care specialist' or 'animal care and service worker' are also frequently employed.

Don't see why not, especially if text is targeted for young readers:

neutral  Richard Benham: I see one very good reason why not: "animal carer" suggests that the animals are sick or injured.
