Ik ben momenteel enigszins met Belgische uitdrukkingen aan het worstelen. Zo heeft bijstandsverzekering een andere lading in Belgie dan in Nederland. Wat zou u gebruiken? (Travel insurance as suggested in the sentence below?)

Suggesties met onderbouwing zijn zeer welkom!

De zinnen luiden als volgt:
"Overwegende dat geïntimeerde met concluante een bijstandsverzekering had afgesloten voor personen en voor zijn voertuig tijdens hun verblijf in het buitenland."

I believe this may is a better term than travel insurance as the latter can be understood on its own imply insurance cover that only covers the trip itself and not eventualities like being stranded, medical emergencies needing repatriation etc. This would thus be a suitable umbrella term which would include travel insurance, medical insurance, ski slope insurance, loss luggage etc.

Alternatively in English one could write: travel insurance and assistance to make sure both aspects were highlighted

Op de Vlaamse VAB-site (www.vab.be) wordt reisbijstandsverzekering gebruikt.

Op hun Engelstalige site (zie link) noemen ze dit zelfde product "VAB travel insurance":
VAB-Travel Insurance provides full travel insurance, which ensures that you always set off on your journey with complete peace of mind. In the event of a serious accident or illness, you will be repatriated as quickly as possible. Local medical costs are covered ....

Het dekt dus in dit voorbeeld de lading van de "bijstandsverzekering" in jouw eerste voorbeeldzin.

neutral  Deborah do Carmo: the term would have to be stated as FULL travel insurance to avoid the issues as I have stated above, or be given a specific brand name that is explained, e.g. VAB travel insurance because the term travel insurance in itself is not wide enough.
