Het 25-40 mm brede spint is wit van kleur. De kleur van Mansonia doet aan noten denken. Door de inwerking van het licht wordt de kleur echter lichter en wat fletser. Mansonia heeft geen opvallende geur of smaak. Par contre, sa poussière de ponçage et sa sciure peuvent causer des dermatoses et des irritations respiratoires. Est souvent utilisé en panneaux de décoration.
