This is in the context of a charity's financial statement and annual review.


In the balance sheet, under 'Fonds Associatifs', I have the following list of funds:
Fonds de dotation
Legs & Dons en contrepartie d'Actifs immobilisés
Réserves diverses
Report à nouveau
Résultat de l'exercice

The "résultat de l'exercice" represents the year's income - expenditure, elsewhere the sum is noted as "EXCEDENT DE RESSOURCES DE L'EXERCICE".

I was at first inclined to translate it as something like "yearly earnings", but should I make it clearer by calling it maybe "surplus funds from the fiscal year"? Is there a better term for this?

  -> Yes, if the accounting period is not a year then use 'period' but the asker did mention year.
