light entertainment Explanation: From the many references I can see to "spectacles de curiosité", many of them legal texts relating to permission to put on different types of show, these seem to be opposed to "spectacles nobles", or more high-brow entertainment such as ballets, straight theatre, etc. I don't think we have this legal difference in English speaking countries, but 'light entertainment' might cover it, depending on your full context. |
