French term or phrase: socionaute
Is there an English equivalent of the French term "socionaute" to refer to someone who uses social media?

I don't know of one and can't find one. I was thinking of using "socialite" but of course that is already taken and is used for someone who moves in social circles, which is a physical rather than a social media thing.

Example sentence: LES SOCIONAUTES APPRÉCIENT GLOBALEMENT LES MARQUES X

Any ideas?

English translation:social media user
Explanation:
It's like internaute, internet user. I don't think there's any point trying to coin a word - I'd just keep it simple.

Ironically, of course, we're all social media users now.

social surfer

Explanation:
I'm just putting this on the table in case you feel like considering it. It's not fantastically common but it is used. Of course, it can also mean someone who literally surfs socially, in the sea, but I think the context will probably ensure that it's not misuderstood.

Do you wake up and log on to your circle of Facebook friends and Twitter contacts?
Or do you use social media to keep in touch with relatives on the other side of the world?
A new survey from the Office of National Statistics has revealed that there's never been so many 'silver social surfers' - pensioners who use social media all the time."
