This is a 12k-word economic review of farming practices in Africa. Economics is my main field, but this agricultural term has left me stumped. The word appears only twice:
1) "En culture sur savane arbustive, il arrive même que l’on maintienne une partie ou la totalité des ***hyménocardes*** qui servent de tuteurs aux cultures volubiles, comme dans le cas de l’illustration..."
2) "A proximité des galeries à essences diversifiées la reprise inclut, dans une moindre mesure, des arbres forestiers, mais surtout les ***hyménocardes*** qui restent partout les essences pionnières et invasives du reboisement..."
I can only find 2 instances of the word (or variants of) on the web.

  -> Thanks. Other interesting information: The generic name Hymenocardia is derived from the Greek words ‘hymen’ - membrane and ‘kardia ’- heart, in reference to the heart-shaped fruits which have a transparent covering membrane (hymen).
agree  John Speese: Agree, French often uses "frenchified" spellings of the scientific names for many animals and plants. Googling them will often give you the translation, or the scientific name which you can then google for the English name.

neutral  Ben Gaia: Strictly speaking the plural should be written "hymenocardiae".// So from your reference the correct form of the plural would be "hymenocardia species". Or, as you suggest, "hymenocardia trees" or "hymenocardia shrubs" from their description.
