French term or phrase: Sonate
This is on the cover page of a prenuptial agreement from 2008. The name of the notaire appears at the top, followed by his address. Underneath that there is a standalone line that reads "Sonate 028250". After that it just says the date, "contrat de mariage" and the names of the parties. The following pages contain the actual prenuptial agreement. My searches on "Sonate 028250" haven't turned up anything. I looked up the website of the notaire and don't see any reference to this word or number. Searches on "sonate" + "notaire" also go nowhere. I have no idea whether this is some sort of number used for registration, filing or communications. If I have to I will contact the notaire but I thought I would ask here first.

Sonate
Explanation:
It's almost certainly a product name, and possibly this document management system:

L’intégration des fonctionnalités de Télé@ctes (téléréquisition, télépublication…) est l’une des nouveautés de cette rentrée. Elle concerne plusieurs logiciels : Sonate (Groupe PMS), WinNot Expert (Lexis Nexis Infolib), Authen.tic (Fichorga), Rédaction des actes (GenApi).

It's presumably a way of sending them documents.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you, Phil! It hasn't been 24 hours yet, but this is clearly the correct answer so I am selecting it as the most helpful. Excellent sleuthing skills!

Asker: PS: For future readers of this entry: depending on the context, you may find it appropriate to include a translator's note explaining that Sonate is the proprietary name of a document management system.

agree  Michael Grabczan-Grabowski: Yes, good find. I highly doubt they're referring to a musical sonata, unless they're noting down the particular piece they played during the wedding. ;-) From the elimination of possibilities, keep it as "Sonate."

Sonata

Explanation:
Although the word 'sonate' is 'sonata', as in a type of piece of classical music, in either English or Italian, this doesn't help with the issue of a marriage certificate.

After seeing more information, the word really stays with the same spelling 'sonate' which has nothing to do with music. It's about software engineering.

disagree  Michael Grabczan-Grabowski: Sonate is the name of the software used, and you don't translate software names.

disagree  AllegroTrans: You say this doesn't help so there was no point in you answering this question
