French term or phrase: devenir contractuel
Hello, this is in a call for tender for manufacturing of military shoes, including a technical specification:

FICHE TECHNIQUE N° 1 VALANT ENGAGEMENT EN CAS DE MARCHE
L’original de ce document sera transmis avec l’acte d’engagement pour lui être annexé et devenir contractuel.
Une copie de ce document sera jointe aux échantillons présentés.

Can I say "become contractual" or "have a contractual purpose" or "become contractually binding"?

English translation:to become a part of the contract
Explanation:
A distinction is often made (and I think should here) between legally binding and contractually binding — and here, that isn't really what it means anyway (that's the 'engagement' bit) — it just means that the document will be appended to and thereby become part of the contract.

disagree  Tony M: Not really correct: it is CONTRACTUALLY binding. But in any case, the subject is 'the original of this document...', which can't therefore be 'bound' anything.

agree  ph-b (X): One can only hope that the contract is legal, but that is for a judge to determine, not for a translator. as you say, what the text says is that the doc is annexed to the contract.

agree  Wolf Draeger: Or "will be appended to the contract" to sidestep the FR penchant for redundancy?
1 day 9 hrs
-> Thanks Wolf! Not realy redundancy: it is physicallappended to the contract and thereby becomes a binding integral part of it. We use the same type of construction in EN.

agree  Cyril Tollari: or 'become part of the contrat' as in your explanation?
