I'm translating several birth certificates from Djibouti. On each one there's a part that says "Rég." (followed by a number) in a text box on the left-hand side, alongside "Série", "Année", and "Numéro", as you can see here: https://www.djiboutiembassy.com.tr/p/application-for-birth-c...

It would make sense for it to mean "Registre" BUT there's an accent on the "e". I don't think it's "région" as the certificates appear to be from the same place and the numbers are different.

Or could it be that they've added the accent because you can't really pronounce "reg" on its own (because of the schwa sound) if you read it out loud? If that's even a thing?
