French term or phrase: au moyen de fonte
I am not quite sure what word to use for "fonte" in this context. The translation document is a patent for an "anode assembly and an electrolytic cell comprising this anode assembly".

I believe the word "fonte" is referring to "foundry" activities, "melting" the bar or a portion of the bar, etc. I have used the phrase "chiefly by means of founding" and thought of using possibly "chiefly by means of a foundry", but the French doesn't really say that specifically. Below is the context where this phrase is used in the original source document:

Any light that may be shed on this term in this context would be greatly appreciated.

Laura

Explanation:
One of the meanings of "fonte" is "melting" (as in "fonte des neiges"). Your text is saying that the anode bars provide are sealed by melting. It is not clear what the melt is; probably the material of the bars.

Notes to answerer
Asker: As was I. Sounds like a good solution. Thanks!

Asker: The sentences says that the "bar is sealed, chiefly by means of melting, into a recess formed in an anode block..." So yes, I like it. Let's see what others have to say and wait the 24 hours and then I'll award you the points. So great to have other professionals to bounce ideas off in a situation like this. :-)

Asker: Thanks, Marco!
