French term or phrase: Ceci est à rapprocher de
Hello,

"La moyenne du film le plus ancien est 1927. Ceci est à rapprocher de la date de naissance du cinéma de famille commencé en 1923 avec l’arrivée du 9,5 mm et la caméra Pathé Baby suivi en 1924 du format 16 mm de Kodak. Les films de famille représentent sans doute la majorité des collections des structures."

It's not only the "ceci est à rapprocher" part which I'm finding difficult but the whole sentence. I can't make it sound natural.

...which was around the time of family cinema beginnings in 1923 along with the advent of 9.5mm and Pathé Baby camera followed in 1924 with the Kodak 16mm format.

I hope someone can help.

Thank you.

Explanation:
I would write it like this except that I'm assuming, without being sure, that the Pathe Baby used 16mm Kodak.

The date of the oldest film, on average, is 1927. This is around the same time as [this corresponds to the time when] family cinema emerged in 1923 with the advent of 9.5 mm, and the Pathé Baby camera which followed in 1924 with its 16 mm Kodak format. "Family films probably make up the majority of the collections."

I did not see Philgoddard's comment begore writing this, so I defer to his opinion as to whether this is a proper Kudoz question.

Yes, I've never understood "that" vs. "as" in this construction but I think both are acceptable.
