Le systeme de vidéo codage permet en standard les fonctions suivantes:
Codage local: les ressources (serveur, consoles) sont situées dans le centre de tri et sont connectées sur le meme réseau local (LAN) que les machines,leurs systemes d'acquisiton et les lecteurs automatiques. Ce codage est bien adapté au codage acheminement en ligne: il minimise les temps de transit réseau.
