voisinage réseau Network neighborhood Explanation: Network neighborhood -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 mins (2004-04-14 22:41:05 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Network Neighborhood A Windows 95 folder that lists computers, printers and other resources connected to your local-area network (LAN). By default, a Network Neighborhood icon appears on your desktop, and the folder is also accessible from within the Windows 95 Explorer. The Network Neighborhood is designed to replace the drive mapping older system, which associates a letter with each shared disk drive. Many programs, however, still require drive mapping. The Network Neighborhood serves no purpose if your computer is not connected to a LAN, except that it is required to link two computers using Windows 95\'s Direct Cable Connection (DCC) feature. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/N/Network_Neighborhood.html . What is Network Neighborhood? A. Network Neighborhood is like a map of the computers on the SUNY Potsdam local area network (LAN). Imagine that your computer is like a house. Your computer (or house) resides in what is called a workgroup (or a neighborhood of houses). Add all of these workgroups (neighborhoods) together and you get a city (the entire network). To continue the house/city metaphor, each computer (house) is visible to everyone else in the city, but you can\'t necessarily see inside. Some people share files (leave their front door open), while others don\'t share files (shut their front door), and some people password protect their files (lock their front doors). If you want access you need the correct password (key to the door) to get inside. http://www.potsdam.edu/DCTM/student-computing/ResNet/net_nei... |
